City of Cape appoints new chief of police

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The City of Cape has appointed a new Police Chief.

Effective immediately Chief Adam Glueck is the new Cape Girardeau Chief of Police.

According to the city Chief Glueck has served as the interim chief for the past several months, and during that time he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the department and the community.

With over 25 years of service in the City of Cape Girardeau Police Department, Chief Glueck has held various roles, including Civilian Report Taker, Police Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Assistant Chief of Police, and current role of Interim Chief of Police.

His extensive experience, deep understanding of community policing, and dedication to fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the community have earned him the respect of both his colleagues and the residents of City of Cape Girardeau.

During his time as interim Police Chief Glueck received support from the City Council and was able to secure approximately $600,000 in funding for public safety enhancements. These enhancements include new body-worn cameras and in-car laptops.  Chief Glueck was also able to acquire two Police K9s to replace two retired K9s and one additional K9 to serve as a gun detection dog.

Glueck received the support of many city leaders including Mayor Stacy Kinder, Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Welker, and many others.
