Fentanyl bust in McCracken County results in arrests of 2 Kentucky men

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. — Two Lexington, Kentucky men were arrested Thursday night in McCracken County following a drug investigation.

Renato Benites, 26, and Kelvin Sawieh, 26, were taken into custody after detectives found approximately 247 suspected Fentanyl pills concealed in Benites’ pants leg.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, detectives conducted surveillance in the area of 2960 Husbands Road and observed a vehicle believed to be involved arriving at a nearby gas station. Benites, the target of the investigation, was identified and arrested after a brief struggle in the hotel parking lot.

Sawieh, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested after the investigation revealed he had conspired with Benites to traffic in Fentanyl.

A search of the vehicle uncovered marijuana, scales, and other drug paraphernalia. A third man, Rio Brown, 33, was cited to court for drug possession and released.

Benites faces charges of trafficking in Fentanyl, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sawieh is charged with conspiracy to trafficking in Fentanyl, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
