Family loses everything to house fire weeks before Christmas

BENTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Crews responded to a house fire in Benton early Monday morning.
According to the resident of the home they had previously experienced electrical issues in the home. The resident says she saw smoke coming from an outlet and turned off the main breaker of the home and went to stay with a family member around 10:30 pm on Sunday night.
Around 3:30 am on Monday December 2, 2024, the resident says she received a phone call that the home was on fire.
No one was reported injured as no one was home when the fire started.
The home looks to be a total loss.
Scott County Rural Fire Protection District responded to the fire incident.
There were two adults and nine children living in the home ranging from ages nine months to ten years old.
The family says they have lost everything just weeks before Christmas.
