“Illinois Get Down” Holiday Showcase in Carbondale announces dates and times

CARBONDALE Ill. (KBSI) – Carbondale Community High School is announcing the field for the “Illinois Get Down” Carbondale Holiday Showcase.

One of the Premier Holiday Showcases in Illinois is back in Carbondale. The dates for this Showcase is December 13-14.

During the Showcase all games will be hosted at Carbondale Community High School and will start on December 13 at 5:30 p.m. Games that start on December 16 will begin at 9:30 a.m. 

Carbondale High School, IHSA and University of Florida Hall of Fame member, Dan Cross, is spearheading the emergence of bringing back this 56-year-old prestigious basketball event now branded as “Illinois Get Down”. 

Cross is joining a star-studded committee along with Carbondale Greats, Troy Hudson, Stephen Bardo, and other supporting team members to make this showcase a high caliber event. 

“I am excited for the opportunity to give back to the community and provide an economic impact on Southern Illinois by bringing exposure to High School teams and basketball programs worthy of invitation. Our mission is to empower student athletes to reach their highest academic and athletic potential through the game of basketball,” said Dan Cross.

“I have always been passionate about basketball and enjoy the chance to help youth pursue their passion for the sport as well as encourage students through a positive outlet,” stated Cross.

We believe that the impact of sports can be a powerful tool for promoting positive values, discipline and creating a better future for all. Sports gave me the opportunity to receive a free education, and it taught me many life-lessons that I took with me after sports, college and pros were over,” said Cross.

This year’s tournament features 14 competitive teams along with state ranked teams from six representing states Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Illinois. 

Adult Ticket Prices $15- All Day Pass, $10 for high school students- All Day Pass. Friday Games Adult Ticket $10, Student $5.
