Twenty six year old Luigi Mangione arrested for the murder of the CEO of UnitedHealthCare, Brian Thompson

CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – Gunfire in the streets of Manhattan ended up in the result of the CEO of UnitedHealthCare, Brian Thompson, shot and killed.
For days authorities have been on a manhunt then finally received a break in the case.
Due to the resemblance from footage of the suspect and suspicious activity in a Mcdonalds in Altoona Pennsylvania a bystander called police immediately.
Twenty-six-year-old Luigi Mangione from Maryland is now in custody in Altoona Pennsylvania.
“A lot of times they don’t want to commit those crimes in their backyard. Therefore, they will go to other cities that are nearby and commit those crimes.”
Bobby Newton is the Public Information Officer of Cape Girardeau Police Department he explains why it’s so important to keep your eyes and ears peeled. He says citizens speaking up can help make an impact on helping police and protect and serve the community.
“Always important to pay attention to the headlines, pay attention to news releases, anything that you see. again, even if it’s from another state, another county or another city. pay attention to those and know what’s going on throughout the whole country.”
When it comes to staying safe locally Newton suggests always reaching out to police even if you want to remain anonymous.
“The see something, say something is most important in your residential neighborhoods. You know what’s normal in your neighborhoods and what’s not. You know who belongs there and who doesn’t. You know who your neighbors are. If you don’t, you probably should get out and meet your neighbors. Know who’s supposed to be in your neighborhood.”
Newton says that the anonymous tip line is invaluable to police.
“You see somebody walking around at 2:00 in the morning, that typically does not go for a walk at 2:00 in the morning, give us a call, we’ll come out and check it out, make sure that individuals not breaking into vehicles or doing something that they’re not supposed to be doing.”
Luigi Mangonie is in custody and a judge is denying bail. Authorities are hoping to have charges filed against the twenty-six-year-old for homicide as early as tomorrow.
