Community Counseling Center Foundation wrapping gifts for kids in need

CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – To get you in the Christmas spirit The Community Counseling Center Network happily reached out to 59 kids for Christmas this year.
Lots of wrapping paper for decorating Christmas presents this year.
Bringing joy to families that might need a little more love.
“A lot of children in our services need the extra love at Christmas,” said Ramsey.
Michelle Ramsey the Executive Foundation Director for the Community Counseling Center Foundation has been collecting presents for the past few weeks, today she has been wrapping all day.
“Families do all they can, but maybe they just can’t quite fulfill the whole gamut of what their children would like or need. And so we always try to have our caseworkers work with families and figure out the most need and prioritize the list that way.”
Ramsey says this job means the world to her personally to see all the smiles around Christmas.
“And then from that, we work on getting those children adopted, whether it’s by a business or an individual. a lot of civic groups and individual groups that just like to do something generous at Christmas. So it’s a lot of fun to see that happen,” said Ramsey.
The Community Counseling Center Foundation had six to seven volunteers in the morning to help wrap presents and support the children.
They plan on wrapping until Friday and then sending the gifts home with the families to bring smiles to the children on Christmas Day.
“Whenever we get everything finished, then the caseworker that serves that particular family, then they will come and pick up the gifts and then they’ll deliver them. So we try to get this done before school gets out, in case it’s somebody in our school based, counseling program.”
The program looks forward to offering gifts to children on Christmas morning each year.
