Kentucky man arrested, charged with assault, strangulation

REIDLAND, Ky., (KBSI)- A disturbing incident occurred in Reidland, Kentucky, on January 7, 2025, at approximately 5:46 p.m. Deputies from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an assault on Benton Road. The victim, who had managed to escape the residence, met with deputies at a nearby business.
According to the victim’s statement, a verbal argument escalated into physical violence when the suspect, 33-year-old Phillip C. Williams of Eddyville, Kentucky, grabbed and punched her in the mouth. The situation worsened as Williams allegedly used the victim’s purse strap to choke her, restricting her airway, and covered her mouth.
Deputies apprehended Williams at the Benton Road residence, where he had also damaged the victim’s property. Williams was taken into custody and transported to the McCracken County Jail, facing charges including:
– Assault 4th Degree Dating Violence (Class A Misdemeanor)
– Strangulation 1st Degree (Class C Felony)
– Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
– Unlawful Imprisonment – 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
