Union City splits with Dresden
UNION CITY, Tenn., (KBSI) — The Union City boys’ basketball team used a strong start and finish to defeat Dresden 64-44 on Tuesday night.
The Tornadoes led by 10 points after five minutes and by 20 at halftime. They then ran off 13 consecutive points in the fourth quarter to seal the win and improve to 7-11 overall and 2-0 in District 14A.
Jamarious Abbott and Kenny Moss led Union City with 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Tornadoes forced 33 Dresden turnovers and controlled the game throughout.
In the girls’ game, Dresden rallied from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime and eventually defeat Union City 59-57.
Allie Spaulding led Dresden’s comeback with 30 points. Union City’s Sh’Nyla Moss scored 19 points, but a costly technical foul in overtime proved decisive.
The Lady Tornadoes fell to 11-7 overall and 1-1 in District 14A.
