Teen killed in head-on collision in Cape Girardeau Co.

CAPE GIRARDEAU Co., Mo., (KBSI) — A head-on collision on Route B in Cape Girardeau County Tuesday evening resulted in the death of an 18-year-old woman from Patton.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a Mustang southbound when she crossed the center line and struck an oncoming minivan at around 5:18 p.m. on January 21.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Nick Miller at 6:09 p.m. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the minivan, a 58-year-old man from Oak Ridge, sustained serious injuries and take to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis via air evacuation.

The crash is under investigation by Troop E of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
