Head-on collision claims life in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Update as of 12:2o pm the roadway is back open.

A head-on collision between two vehicles in Cape Girardeau resulted in the death of one person and serious injuries to another.

The deadly crash occurred on Mt. Auburn Rd. just South of Highway 74, prompting police to block traffic.

The road is no longer closed between Highway 74 and Silver Springs Rd.

According to authorities, two victims sustained traumatic injuries in the crash. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol crash team is assisting in the investigation.
