Mayfield man arrested after fleeing scene of accident involving police cruiser

MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — Donald Chastain, 58, was arrested Thursday after attempting to flee the scene of an accident involving a police cruiser in the Walmart parking lot.

Chastain collided with the rear of the cruiser, which was occupied by an officer, and then fled the scene. He was stopped behind another business on Paris Road.

Authorities found Chastain didn’t have a valid driver’s license, couldn’t provide proof of insurance, and possessed suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.

Chastain was charged with multiple counts, including leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, and possession of controlled substances. He was taken to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center.
