Man arrested for falsely reporting stolen vehicle
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — A man has been arrested and charged after falsely reporting his vehicle stolen.
Walter G. Bauer confessed to driving his vehicle through a fence at the Lake of Egypt Power Plant, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
Bauer has been charged with driving while his license was revoked and disorderly conduct for filing a false stolen vehicle report.
The vehicle was initially reported stolen from the Eagle Point Bay Area in Johnson County but was later recovered in Williamson County.

A stolen vehicle was recovered Friday after it was involved in a single-vehicle accident in rural Williamson County.
Deputies from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash near the intersection of Lake of Egypt Road and Power Plant Road around 10:15 a.m. The driver and occupants had fled the scene.
An investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen overnight from Johnson County, Illinois. The registered owner was unaware the vehicle was missing.
Investigators from the Williamson and Johnson County sheriff’s offices are working to determine who stole the vehicle and who was in possession of it at the time of the accident.
