Man arrested after apartment fire reveals suspicious circumstances

PERRYVILLE., Mo., (KBSI) – A man was arrested Friday after a fire broke out in his apartment building, revealing suspicious circumstances and a cache of burned and prohibited items.
According to police, officers responded to a report of a fire at an apartment building, where they met with the reporting party, Officers observed a strong odor of burned plastic and found a couch in the common area still smoldering.
The sole occupant of the apartment, Michael E. Kramer, was initially uncooperative but eventually allowed officers to search his apartment. The search revealed several burned items, including bed sheets, backpacks and a tote bag, as well as live rounds of ammunition.
Kramer, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms, was arrested and read his rights. A search warrant was executed, and the scene was secured.
The investigation is ongoing.
