Cape Police Department launches a new app

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Cape Police Department first having the Shot Spotter App to help the police department and now an app to help the public.

CapePD Tips is the new app for the public to remain anonymous while giving information and helping out the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Tip 411 has been around for a while and the Cape Girardeau Police Department has used that to create a resource that results in a new app for android and apple users.

You can find this app by typing in Cape Girardeau Police in the search bar in the app store and CapePD Tips will appear free for download.

Bobby Newton the Public Information Officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department says the app is good for the public and police for this main reason.

“Nope, no way of tracing it back. You know it’s a valuable resource because we want folks to be able to communicate with us on an anonymous basis so that we can get that information from them.”

Everything is 100% anonymous and everything gets sent back to tip 411 which then gets sent to the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

This is ensuring people who are tipping off police that they can’t be discovered, essentially making sure they can rest assured they remain anonymous.
