Firefighters contain early morning house fire in Scott City

SCOTT CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire early today after a 911 call was placed around 5:13 a.m.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire showing through the roof and rear of the residence. The fire was contained quickly, but extensive overhaul work was required.
No one was home at the time of the fire. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office and Scott City Police Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
Mutual aid was provided by the Cape Girardeau, Chaffee, N.B.C Fire Protection District and Benton fire departments. The North Scott County Ambulance District provided medical standby.
