Southeast Missouri State University Dean Alberto Davila Passes away
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — The Harrison College of Business and Computing at Southeast Missouri State University announced Tuesday that Dean Alberto Davila has passed away.
Davila made a lasting impact on many lives within and beyond the university, from his work in the classroom to scholarship opportunities for students in need, and more around SEMO.
Dr. Kevin Dickson, interim dean of the Harrison College of Business and Computing, talks on Davila’s leadership style and influence.
“He really liked to involve people in decisions,” Dickson said. “One example that stands out to me early on was when we were putting together a new mission for the college. We held multiple meetings, and there were lots of different ideas shared until we arrived at the newer, shorter mission we have now. I think that was his preferred way of doing things—bringing people together, hearing different voices.”
A memorial service honoring Davila will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, in Kem Statuary Hall at the Wehking Alumni Center, 926 Broadway, in Cape Girardeau.
Students, friends, colleagues, and community members are invited to attend.
