Cape Girardeau firefighters extinguish early morning house fire

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Firefighters quickly extinguished a residential structure fire at 321 S. Spring.
The Cape Girardeau Fire Department responded to the blaze at 12:53 a.m. and reported fire and smoke showing from the building.
No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The fire, which is believed to have started in the kitchen area, caused fire and smoke damage throughout the structure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Cape Girardeau Police and Fire departments, with assistance from the State Fire Marshal.
Fire personnel were on the scene for approximately three hours.
