CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Super Bowl is one of the biggest travel days of the year and packs a punch economically., Boosting sales for businesses, rideshare programs, flights and restaurants.
Whether it was from your couch or in person millions of people watched the super bowl today.
We talked with a local football fan who got the chance to watch the game in person. She shares her experience.
“It’s an overall experience, everywhere you walk people are in either Chiefs or Eagles. Everyone’s cheering on their team, there’s always the friendly banter, back and forth. You just feel like you’re really here. If we win tonight obviously the atmosphere will be crazy too. It’s been so much fun actually being here.”
According to NPR the city of New Orleans is expecting more than 100,000 people in town over the weekend. Meghan Clark is from Cape Girardeau and a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. Clark says her whole family got in on the football action this year.
“I wanted to come back and just experience the city, do the NFL experience at the convention center and just be amongst my chiefs’ fans and this year I brought my two oldest kids and my husband to share the experience.”
After the January 1st attack the city is ensuring safety through increased security with many people saying they’ve noticed heavy security, Clark says she’s noticed more safeguards as well.
“We’ve actually been really blessed, environments been perfect definently really safe for the kids. They have heightened security, heightened kind of all of that. We’ve been lucky to see no kind of major incidents. It’s been a smooth peaceful trip.”
Clark encourages others to get the full Super Bowl experience and go to a game.
“I say make the trip, make the experience and make the memories with your family whether you actually go to the game or just come to the city its well worth it!”
