Ambulance catches fire on I-64 in Jefferson County, 3 hospitalized

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — Three people, including a patient, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after an ambulance caught fire Tuesday night along Interstate 64.

The Illinois State Police said the incident occurred at 8:59 p.m. near the 70-mile marker. The 2019 Ford ambulance was fully engulfed in flames.

The driver and a passenger were treated for their injuries, as was the patient who was being transported in the ambulance.
