Convicted child molester to be released from prison

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Nelson Paul Thompson, a convicted child molester, will be released from a Missouri prison on probation after serving only four months of his 10-year sentence.

Thompson, who took a plea deal last year, was sentenced to 10 years but was eligible for probation after completing a 120-day rehabilitation course.

His attorney presented the results of the program in court Thursday, stating Thompson is at low risk of committing another crime.

Upon his release, Thompson will be required to register as a sex offender.
