Submerged vehicle recovered in Pemiscot County not linked to 12-year-old missing person case
PEMISCOT COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — A submerged vehicle recovered from Wolf Bayou in northern Pemiscot County on Feb. 7, 2025, was investigated as a potential lead in the 12-year-old missing person case of Barbara Stoffer.
The Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s dive team, recovered the vehicle. However, it was not a match for Stoffer’s green Volvo, which has been missing since her disappearance in 2013.
Despite the case’s age, Sheriff Joey Higgerson emphasized that it remains a top priority, and any new leads will be thoroughly investigated. Stoffer, who suffered from bipolar disorder and depression, was last seen driving her green 1997 Volvo 850 GLT with an expired Missouri license plate
