Carbondale police arrest two, seize cannabis and stolen firearm

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — A traffic stop by Carbondale police on Feb. 22 led to the discovery of over 40 grams of cannabis and a stolen firearm, resulting in the arrest of two individuals.
According to police, officers stopped a vehicle near South Wall Street and East Campus Drive after observing traffic violations.
Further investigation revealed the illicit items, prompting the arrest of a 15-year-old male from Murphysboro and 23-year-old Dijon A. Wyatt, also of Murphysboro.
The juvenile, whose identity is not being released in accordance with the Illinois Juvenile Justice Act, was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Defacing Identification Marks of a Firearm.
He is being held in a juvenile detention facility pending a court appearance.
Wyatt was arrested for Possession of Cannabis and released pending a court appearance.
The remaining occupants of the vehicle were released without charges.
