Poplar Bluff Fire Department battles three structure fires
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — The Poplar Bluff Fire Department had a busy morning Thursday, responding to three separate structure fires that kept firefighters on their toes.
Firefighters were dispatched to the first fire on Arkansas Lane before dawn, where they worked to extinguish the flames and prevent further damage.
Poplar Bluff Fire Department Batallion Chief Jeffrey Hale said it was an electrical fire that started in the breaker box of the house.
Later in the day, two more structures caught fire — firefighters responding to one after the other.
“Three in one day is really unusual,” Hale said. “Three in one day is a lot for us to get.”
He said the other two fires, which occurred on Poplar and Magnolia, were in vacant structures. One is believed to have been caused by an unattended candle and the other is still being investigated.
The fire department’s swift and coordinated response ensured that the fires were minimized with damage and potential risks lowered to people in the area.
