Jackson R-2 School District launches IGNITE program for career-based learning

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The Jackson R-2 School District has introduced a new profession-based learning program called IGNITE, which will provide students with real-world experience in various career paths.
The program, part of the national Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) network, will be offered to a select group of juniors and seniors at Jackson High School. Thirty students were chosen to participate in the internship-type experience.
For the 2025-2026 school year, the program will focus on two career paths: education and health care. Saint Francis Healthcare System has partnered with the district to provide a clinical and classroom experience for students interested in health care.
Students pursuing a career in education will be placed in the classrooms of current Jackson R-2 teachers as part of a “grow your own” program.
The IGNITE program aligns with the district’s mission to graduate life-ready, service-motivated citizens with a passion for learning. Students will receive advanced high school credits, college credits, and Market Value Assets (MVA) recognized by industries.
