McCracken County School District appoints new Chief of Campus police

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Wes Orazine has been appointed as the new Chief of Campus Police for McCracken County School District, bringing over three decades of experience in law enforcement, leadership, and school safety.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Orazine served for over six years before joining the Paducah Police Department in 2001. He advanced through the ranks to retire as Captain in August 2020. Orazine then served as a Patrol Deputy with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and later as School Resource Officer and Attendance Specialist for McCracken County Schools.

Throughout his career, Orazine has held various leadership roles, including Honor Guard Commander, SWAT Commander, and Police Training Supervisor. His extensive experience in operations management, team leadership, and law enforcement strategies is expected to enhance the safety and security of McCracken County Schools.

“We are thrilled to have Wes Orazine lead our Campus Police Department,” said Superintendent Josh Hunt. “His dedication to school safety, law enforcement expertise, and leadership skills make him the ideal candidate to protect and serve our students, staff, and school community.”

Orazine has completed various training courses, including the Academy of Police Supervision and FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association leadership courses. He has received multiple commendations, including five Service Commendation Awards and three Life-Saving Awards.

“I am honored to take on this role as Chief of Campus Police,” Orazine said. “Ensuring the safety of our students and staff is my top priority.”

Orazine will work with current Chief of Police Austin Guill to ensure a smooth transition. His position will officially begin on July 1, 2025.
