Prevent Child Abuse Illinois to launch child abuse prevention month

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., (KBSI) — Prevent Child Abuse Illinois, along with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and other community organizations, will hold a press conference on April 1 to launch Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The event, themed “Powered by Hope, Strengthened by Prevention,” will feature guest speakers, including Dr. Kirk Overstreet, President of John A. Logan College, and Heidi E. Mueller, Director of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

A proclamation reading and information on child abuse prevention will also be part of the event.

“By investing in prevention, we not only protect children, but also provide families with the strength and resilience to overcome challenges,” said Tarra Winters, Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Illinois.

The press conference is open to the public and will be held on April 1.
