Perryville establishes storm shelter for community members

PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — A storm shelter has been established in Perryville, providing a safe haven for community members during severe weather. The shelter, located at the Perryville Methodist Church, 314 West North, will be available starting Sunday, March 30, at 1 p.m.

The shelter is privately funded and has been made possible through the efforts of Pastor Caleb Mueller, Denise Ulrich, Angela Francis, and other community supporters.

Volunteers, including nurses, caregivers, and off-duty first responders, are needed to assist at the shelter. Those interested in volunteering should contact Denise Ulrich at 573-517-2520.

Community members are invited to bring flashlights, water, snacks, blankets, and other essential items to the shelter. A waiver must be signed upon entry, and a separate area will be designated for crated pets.

The shelter’s operation will be guided by the following rules:

Doors will be secured at siren warning; no entry or exit will be allowed during this time.
Community members are responsible for their own safety and well-being.
A waiver must be signed upon entry.

For updates and instructions, follow the Perry County Storm Shelter social media post. Volunteers are appreciated, and donations of crates for pets are welcome.
