MoDot urges drivers to utilize traveler tool to stay informed on road conditions

SOUTHEAST, Mo. (KBSI) – Rainfall in Southeast Missouri has caused flooding and road closures.
The Missouri Department of Transportation(MoDot) is urging drivers to be aware of road closures and road safety.
Amy Bryant is the Maintenance Engineer for MoDots Southeast district. She says MoDot workers were working around the clock over the weekend after the Southeast Missouri area experienced heavy rain fall that caused allot of roadways to flood.
According to Bryant there are still a large number of roads closed.
“Currently we have about 86 roads in our district which is a 25-county area that are showing closed due to water over the road. I think over the weekend we have 125 closed at one time” says Bryant.
Bryant says more roads are opening as flooding is going down and is expected to continue to go down throughout the week.
Bryant shares how you can stay informed of what roadways are closed in your area.
“Our traveler information map out there on our website or they can call 188 ask MoDot number and talk to one of our customer service people.”
