Fire contained to abandoned building in Poplar Bluff

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) – A large fire broke out in Poplar Bluff early Tuesday morning, April 15.

Crews responded to the blaze at a building on Bartlett Street near the intersection of South B Street around 3:09 a.m.

The building had been unoccupied, Butler County emergency leaders said.

According to Poplar Bluff Fire Department Chief Mike Moffitt, said firefighters were able to contain the fire to the abandoned building, which was once used as a mechanic shop with storefronts and apartments.

He said around 25 firefighters were on scene.
