Orange Barrel Report April 15th

(KBSI) – Route 74/Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as construction crews perform bridge maintenance.

The Emerson Bridge goes over the Mississippi River into Illinois located between Fountain Street and Levee Road.

Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 28 with completion anticipated Saturday, Nov. 1.

One lane of Interstate 24 eastbound is blocked between the 69- and 70-mile makers near the Trigg-Christian County Line due to damage to the roadway.

Engineers will assess the damage which is in the right-hand lane of I-24 eastbound between mile markers 69-70 and develop a plan for repairs to the concrete slab.

Motorists should be alert and prepare to shift into the left-hand or passing lane around the work zone. Use caution.

There is no estimated duration for completion of the roadway repair.
