2 arrested in Graves County after pursuit, methamphetamine seizure
MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — A drug investigation led to the arrest of two people Wednesday afternoon after a pursuit and seizure of more than a pound of methamphetamine.
According to authorities, Graves County sheriff’s detectives, assisted by Mayfield police, had suspects under surveillance near North 13th Street and West James around 3:30 p.m.
When detectives attempted to stop the suspects, the driver, 26-year-old Keon K. Boyd, fled in a vehicle before being forced to stop in a yard near a creek.
Boyd then fled on foot, throwing a loaded Glock 9mm pistol during the chase. He was apprehended in a backyard on North 12th Street.
The passenger, 24-year-old Vanessa M. Vasquez, was also taken into custody.
Authorities found over a pound of crystal methamphetamine, ammunition, a loaded AR-15-style rifle, electronic scales and other items in the vehicle.
Boyd and Vasquez, both of Mayfield, were charged with various crimes, including trafficking in methamphetamine with a firearm enhancement. Both suspects have extensive criminal histories.
The investigation is ongoing, and they were transported to out-of-county detention centers.
