Missouri Department of Conservation continues their fight against Chronic Wasting Disease in Missouri deer

Managed Deer Hunts Move Forward In Cape Girardeau City Council

SOUTHEAST, Mo. (KBSI)- The Missouri Department of Conservation continues to monitor Chronic Wasting Disease in Missouri Deer.

Over 70 counties in the state of Missouri have delt with a 100% fatal deer disease, as experts continue to monitor the spread.

The new cases of CWD were found in 35 counties. It was the first positive cases of CWD for seven counties including Audrain, Callaway, Lewis, Marion, Miller, Morgan and Texas counties.

While the number of CWD-positive counties has increased, MDC Wildlife Health Program Supervisor Deb Hudman said that CWD management efforts have kept infection rates low.

“Less than 1% of samples tested positive for CWD,” Hudman said.

Hear more from Hudman tonight, as we take a closer look at CWD.
