MoDOT extends weight limit waiver for flood relief efforts
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Transportation has extended a waiver allowing heavier-than-normal truckloads of rock, sand and gravel on state highways for flood relief and infrastructure repair efforts.
The waiver, which runs through May 14, 2025, permits private and for-hire motor carriers to haul up to 10% more than their licensed weight.
Participating carriers must adhere to specific guidelines, including:
— Not exceeding 10% above the gross licensed weight of the commercial motor vehicle.
— Transporting rock, sand and gravel only within Missouri.
— Obeying posted bridge weight limits and restricting speed to 30 mph when crossing bridges.
— Avoiding travel on interstate highways.
