OCCHS FFA chapter excels in regional, state competition

OBION COUNTY, Tenn., (KBSI) — The Obion County Central High School (OCCHS) FFA chapter has achieved significant success in recent regional and state competitions, showcasing students’ agricultural knowledge, leadership, and hard work.

The OCCHS Floriculture team placed third in West Tennessee and qualified for the state contest at Tennessee Tech. Team members include Emily Webb, Coleman Cheatham, Gracie Martin, and Chloe McCullough.

The Quiz Bowl team placed 14th out of 118 teams and third in their district at the Tennessee FFA State Convention in Gatlinburg. Team members include Carter Ayers, Carson Homra, Gracie Rae Martin, Wyatt Gantt, and Davis Taylor.

Five students earned the prestigious Tennessee FFA State Degree: Genesis Wilson, Tatum Alexander, Gracie Rae Martin, Hope Baker, and Chloe McCullough.

The chapter received the Superior Chapter Award, accepted by Carson Homra, and the Gold Level PLOW (Passing Literacy Onward) Award, accepted by Gracie Rae Martin.

Libby Carman and Katy Frazier were regional winners in the Agriscience Fair with their project “Do You Know Your GMO?”
