Shackleford family dedicates over 35 years of combined service to Poplar Bluff hospital

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) – For over two decades, the Shackleford family has been deeply rooted in healthcare at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Kim Shackleford, MSN, RN, Stroke Program Coordinator, is the latest family member to join the hospital’s team.

Kim’s connection to the hospital began 22 years ago when she worked in partnership with the hospital through her role in higher education. Her interest in healthcare started in high school, and she went on to work as a nurse for ten years before transitioning into higher education.

The Shackleford family’s connection to the hospital extends beyond Kim’s career. Her husband, Alan, is a cardiovascular operating room RN, and their son, Garrett, is an intensive care unit RN.

Several other family members have also worked or currently work at the hospital, totaling over 35 years of combined service.

Kim believes the family’s connection to the hospital reflects their commitment to helping the community. “Having so many family members serve in different capacities here shows our commitment to helping people in our community get better and live healthier lives,” she said.

Kim’s advice to those starting their careers at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center is to “give it your all” and strive to provide exceptional care. She hopes the family’s legacy will continue to make a positive impact on the community.
