Cape Girardeau police investigate fatal shooting: Suspect identified

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday afternoon near the 1500-block of Whitener.

Deandra Leeann Patterson, 27, of Cape Girardeau, has been identified as the suspect. Patterson faces charges including second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Patterson is being held on a $1 million cash-only bond.

According to police, one victim arrived at the hospital on their own, while the other was transported by ambulance. Micah Ledbetter, 22, of Cape Girardeau, died from gunshot wounds while being treated in the emergency room. Another person suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

The Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad has been activated to assist in the investigation. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
