Cape Girardeau man faces charges following alleged weapon incident
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A 32-year-old Cape Girardeau man is facing multiple charges after an alleged weapon violation Saturday afternoon.
Police responded to the 300 block of South Sprigg Street around 3 p.m. after reports of an altercation between two men, one of whom was allegedly armed with a rifle.
Officers arrived on scene and took George Wesley Smith IV into custody after he refused to follow commands and resisted arrest.
A black handgun and black “AR-style” rifle were recovered from the vehicle Smith was in.
Smith was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, resisting a lawful detention and two counts of assault.
He is being held on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
