Amtrak service launches at new Southern Illinois Multimodal Station

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Amtrak service is now fully operational at the new Southern Illinois Multimodal Station (SIMMS) located at 401 S. Illinois Avenue.

The station features a convenient drop-off and pick-up area, a modern waiting room, and a pet-friendly outdoor area. Future plans for the station include space for employment services, a co-working space, and offices for local transit and tourism agencies.

A grand opening ceremony will be held upon completion of the project.
