Carbondale police investigate shots fired incident, one arrested

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Police responded to a shots-fired report on South Cedarview Street Tuesday morning, leading to the arrest of a 25-year-old Carbondale man.

David D. Ward was taken into custody after allegedly firing several shots into an unoccupied vehicle during a dispute with an acquaintance, according to a news release from the City of Carbondale.

A firearm was recovered, and Ward faces charges including aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and domestic battery.

The victim declined medical treatment for a minor injury unrelated to the gunfire. The vehicle was the only property damaged.
