Dollar General donates $5,000 to support Poplar Bluff Kindergarten Center recovery

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — Dollar General Corporation has donated $5,000 to the Poplar Bluff Kindergarten Center to aid in recovery efforts following a devastating tornado in March.

The donation will support the school’s efforts to reopen in time for the new school year. Superintendent Dr. Aaron Cornman expressed cautious optimism that students will return to the Kindergarten Center in August, pending weather and construction delays.

The March 14 EF-3 tornado caused substantial damage to the campus, displacing kindergarteners to the Mark Twain facility. Dollar General’s contribution will help restore educational continuity and provide a sense of normalcy for students.

This donation is part of Dollar General’s broader disaster relief efforts, which contributed over $2 million to various initiatives last year. The corporation also provides financial support to affected employees and helps schools rebuild through its Literacy Foundation’s Beyond Words grant program.

Additionally, Dairy Queen recently donated $2,200 to replace personal effects lost by teachers in the tornado.
