IDOT warns motorists of potential pavement blowouts due to extreme weather
SPRINGFIELD, Ill., (KBSI) — Illinois transportation officials are warning motorists to be cautious of pavement blowouts on state roads due to extreme heat and humidity.
When temperatures rise, pavement can expand and buckle, causing uneven road surfaces with little to no warning.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says its crews are monitoring road conditions and are prepared to respond quickly to any pavement issues.
Motorists are advised to slow down in work zones, give crews plenty of space and report any pavement issues to IDOT at 1-800-452-4368 or by calling 911.
