Firefighters extinguish blaze at Cape Girardeau home

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire at 914 Jefferson Ave. at 2:38 a.m.

Upon arrival, crews reported smoke inside the structure but quickly contained and extinguished the fire. The home was unoccupied at the time.

The fire, which started at the rear of the home, is under investigation by the Cape Girardeau Police Department, Cape Girardeau Fire Department and the Missouri State Fire Marshal.

No injuries were reported, and the structure sustained moderate fire and smoke damage. Fire personnel were on scene for approximately three hours.
