Crew members safe after boat overturns in Ohio River
OLMSTED, Ill., (KBSI) — The Ohio River has reopened to navigation traffic after a temporary closure due to a navigation accident involving two U.S. Army Corps of Engineers vessels.
The incident occurred Monday at approximately 8:50 a.m. Central Time during routine fleeting activities at Olmsted Locks and Dam. No injuries were reported, and all personnel are accounted for.
A workboat, the M/V Jackie Lee Anderson, was listing on the Illinois bank, while another vessel, the M/V 775 workboat, capsized below the dam.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is working with salvage companies to retrieve the vessels and reopen the river to traffic. The Coast Guard and local responding agencies assisted in the response.
