Off-duty Missouri deputy, wife killed in suspected impaired driving crash
OZARK, Mo. (KBSI) — The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the deaths of off-duty Deputy Sheriff Michael E. Adams and his wife, Ashley, who were killed in a vehicle crash.
The crash occurred June 30 at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Melton Road outside Highlandville, Missouri. Authorities say the couple’s vehicle was struck head-on by a suspected impaired driver who had fled from law enforcement.
Deputy Adams, 52, and his wife were pronounced dead at the scene. Their 4-month-old grandchild, who was also in the vehicle, remains hospitalized in stable but serious condition.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Sheriff Brad Cole described Deputy Adams, who joined the force in 2022, as a “dedicated and respected member of our team and the community.”
Funeral and memorial services are pending. The sheriff’s office has asked for privacy for the family during this time.
