New inspection requirements for street legal special purpose vehicles

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Starting June 27, 2025, street legal special purpose vehicles in McCracken County must undergo inspections by certified inspectors.

Vehicle owners must present documentation, including a certificate of origin, title, or bill of sale, along with a valid driver’s license and payment of $25 for in-office inspections or $45 for on-site inspections.

The inspection checklist includes 15 requirements, all of which must be met for the vehicle to pass. Vehicle owners can refer to KRS 186.077 for the full statute.
