Missouri outdoorsman Isaiah Maxi remembered for inspiring journey

COLUMBIA, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MoDNR) and Missouri State Parks team are saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Isaiah Maxi, a passionate outdoorsman who walked across Missouri in 2022, visiting 30 state parks along the way.

Maxi’s journey garnered a wide following on social media, where he shared his adventures and inspired others with his positivity and encouragement. He often met up with followers to hike and explore Missouri’s state parks and historic sites.

In August 2024, Maxi presented an inspirational speech to the MoDNR team, sharing lessons learned from his travels. His legacy will continue to inspire others to explore and appreciate Missouri’s natural beauty.

Friends of Maxi are planning a memorial hike in his honor, scheduled for 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area in Blue Springs. All are invited to attend, and more information can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
