MoDOT to hold public meeting on Route 67 Intersection improvements

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Aug. 4 to discuss intersection improvements on U.S. Route 67 at Routes A and C in Cherokee Pass.

The meeting will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the Cherokee Pass Fire Department in Fredericktown.

The project involves removing median crossovers and installing J-turns to improve safety. J-turns allow motorists to turn right in the same direction of traffic, merge into the left lane, and then make a U-turn.

According to MoDOT Project Manager Chris Crocker, J-turn intersections have been shown to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes.

The project is expected to be let in March 2026, with construction beginning in May 2026 and completion anticipated by early 2027.

The public meeting will be open house style, and visitors can discuss the project with the project team.

For more information, contact Crocker at (573) 380-1658 or MoDOT’s Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK MODOT (275-6636).
