Authorities warn of door-to-door scammers in Malden area

MALDEN, Mo. (KBSI) — Authorities are warning residents of a scam involving an individual posing as a representative of DIRECTV or Dish Network.

The impersonator has been reported going door-to-door in the Malden area, claiming to offer assistance in lowering residents’ bills.

The Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the individual does not represent either DIRECTV or Dish Network.

Residents are advised not to let the individual into their homes or provide any personal information or money.

Anyone encountering the scammer is asked to report the incident immediately to the Dunklin County Communication Center at 573-888-2424 or 573-888-2409.

If possible, residents are also encouraged to take a photo of the individual, note vehicle descriptions or license plate numbers, and share this warning with others to help protect the community.
