Ledbetter man arrested after altercation with deputy

LED BETTER, Ky., (KBSI) — A 30-year-old Ledbetter man has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses after an altercation with a deputy and a subsequent pursuit.

Byron Hopkins was taken into custody Wednesday after deputies deployed OC spray to gain compliance.

Hopkins has been charged with criminal littering, driving on a suspended license, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container, resisting arrest, fleeing police, wanton endangerment, escape, disorderly conduct and DUI.

The incident began when Deputy Jeremy Kolba identified Hopkins as a suspect in an illegal dumping investigation along Chestnut Lake Road.

The investigation is ongoing.
