Notre Dame Regional High School student nominated for Sports Illustrated’s Youth Athlete of the Year
CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Carlie Shamoun, a junior at Notre Dame Regional High School, has been nominated as one of the top 20 Youth Athletes of the Year sponsored by Sports Illustrated. Shamoun is currently 4th in the voting line to be nominated for the top Youth Athlete of the Year.

The Youth Athlete of the Year will be featured in a 3BRAND ad in Sports Illustrated and take home $25,000.
Shamoun, who plays varsity volleyball and for the St. Louis Crossfire travel team, says the thrill of competition and teamwork drive her passion for the sport.
Her mother, Kristie, is her biggest inspiration, demonstrating dedication, discipline and composure under pressure.
Public voting for the top 20 nominees begins July 28 and will narrow down to the top 5 by August 28. The winner will receive a prize package valued at $75,000, including a photo shoot for Sports Illustrated.
